Meet Your Facilitator

Hi, I’m Dr. Kalianivala—though most people just call me Anahita. (Hear how to pronounce it.)

I’m a clinical psychologist who works at the intersection of chronic pain, trauma, and mental health. I help people who feel stuck, exhausted, or dismissed finally find tools that make a difference.

I’m also a certified Empowered Relief® instructor, and I love teaching this class to folks who are ready for a new way forward. The tools we cover are simple, powerful, and backed by real science—and I’ve seen them change lives.

When I’m not nerding out over pain science, you’ll usually find me walking by the river, sampling iced coffee from too many local cafés, or dancing in the kitchen.

Backed By Research

Empowered Relief™ is a science-based class developed at Stanford University—and the results are compelling:

  • 40% reduction in pain intensity and improved coping skills, according to a randomized trial published in The Journal of Pain.

  • 30% decrease in pain-related distress—plus improvements in mood and quality of life—after just one session (Stanford School of Medicine).

  • Long-term gains: Participants often maintain reduced pain interference and stronger coping skills 3 to 6 months after completing the class. (See the studies.)

  • Mind-body techniques used in the program—like mindfulness and diaphragmatic breathing—help regulate pain perception and support lasting relief (Pain Medicine).

These outcomes aren’t just encouraging—they’re comparable to results from 8-session cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with significantly less time and cost commitment.
