Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive
focused, structured therapy for chronic pain and the patterns that keep it going
for people who understand their pain, but still feel stuck in the same patterns.
Let me guess…
You’ve been in go-mode for years…
powering through
brushing off pain
outrunning the alarm
Breaking down, just to function.
You still show up to your responsibilities, implied or assigned, even when your body is begging for a break. You’ve become really good at hiding how bad it is.
Even though you understand the mind-body connection better than most of your providers, somewhere along the way, you learned not to trust your own experience.
You say “yes” to all the recommended treatments.
But nothing actually helps you feel secure and confident that change is lasting.
So now you’re stuck in a loop:
overdoing it
crashing and burning
recovering just enough to start all over again.
That is a body stuck in survival mode.
It’s not a character flaw. It’s just a pattern.
And patterns can change.
But how?
Sometimes the issue isn’t a missing tool or insight.
It’s the way the work is held.
When patterns are deeply wired, weekly therapy often isn’t enough to interrupt them.
A more focused, sustained level of support can help your system learn something new.
a more focused path to healing
Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive
A structured, highly supported therapy experience built for high-functioning humans who are ready to:
stop pushingthrough pain and worry
interrupt persistent pain and pressure cycles
and start relaxing into life.
Instead of spreading therapy across months or years, sessions are scheduled closer together, across 3 to 4 weeks, to allow the nervous system to learn new patterns moreefficiently.
Program Structure:
Initial onboarding and treatment planning
A series of focused treatment sessions scheduled multiple times per week
Between-session integration and practice
Investment begins around $4,000
This is fully virtual care. Sessions are held over secure video so you can access support from wherever you are.
Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensives are led by Dr. Anahita Kalianivala, PhD, a Stanford-trained pain psychologist specializing in mind-body approaches to chronic pain and the worry that comes with it.
Why Choose an Intensive Over Weekly Therapy?
The Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive is a focused, short-term container designed specifically for chronic pain and central sensitization. Our goal is to identify and treat the things that keep you bracing, overfunctioning, or pushing through.
In 3 to 4 weeks, a therapy intensive can address what other interventions take months to get to:
The invisible stress loops
The constant worry about pain
The mental, emotional, and nervous system patterns
A therapy intensive changes the rhythm of treatment itself.
In a chronic pain therapy intensive, we work together more frequently and for longer sessions. The increased frequency, along with responsive between-session support, allows us to:
interrupt pain-stress patterns in real time
reinforce new responses before your system goes back to auto-pilot
build safety through repetition
create traction while your nervous system is still open to change
Instead of circling the same insight for months,
we create movement in weeks.
Because this is not just talk therapy.
This is…
nervous system retraining that helps your body learn new safety signals
behavioral repatterning that interrupts the push-through cycle
pain reprocessing grounded in neuroscience, helping the brain reinterpret pain signals
parts work, exploring the protective roles, beliefs, and identities your system developed to keep you functioning
a therapeutic relationship that makes space for your lived history and your body’s innate wisdom
And maybe this is exactly the kind of support you’ve been looking for.
an investment in a different relationship with your body, your emotions, and yourself
Cost begins around $4,000
This intensive creates a focused container for meaningful change, allowing us to work with patterns while they are still active rather than stretching the process across months of weekly sessions.
Package options include 3 or 4 week containers with either 60- or 90-min appointment sessions.
All packages include:
a 2-hour onboarding session
a 1-hour closing session
multiple treatment sessions per week
asynchronous support between sessions
personalized tools and materials you can continue using long after the intensive ends.
-
A $500 deposit is required to reserve your intensive dates.
The deposit is non-refundable but may be transferred once prior to the onboarding session if scheduling changes are needed.
The remaining balance can be paid in one or two payments, due every two weeks beginning from the time your intensive is reserved.
How a Therapy Intensive Works
This isn’t therapy-as-usual.
Once your intensive is scheduled, the work unfolds in a structured sequence designed to build momentum and support meaningful change.
Onboarding and Pattern Mapping
Your intensive begins with a two-hour onboarding session where we take a close look at your pain history, nervous system patterns, and the strategies your body has developed to cope.
Together we identify the key loops that keep pain active and create a focused plan for the weeks ahead.
Focused Treatment Sessions
You’ll then meet with me multiple times per week for structured sessions that build on one another.
Because sessions occur close together, we can work with patterns while they are still active, helping your nervous system practice new responses in real time.
Sessions may include:
pain neuroscience education
nervous system regulation skills
emotional processing related to pain patterns
cognitive and attentional retraining
developing personalized pain interruption strategies
parts-informed exploration of protective beliefs and identities
integration of emotional and somatic signals
Between-Session Support & Integration
Between sessions, you’ll receive guidance, tools, and exercises to help reinforce the work we’re doing together.
You’ll also have access to between-session messaging support, allowing us to adjust and support the process as new insights or challenges arise.
Closing Integration Session
Your intensive concludes with a one-hour closing session designed to help you settle, reflect, and consolidate the work we’ve done together.
The goal of this session is to ensure you leave the intensive feeling grounded, clear about your progress, and supported in what comes next.
The therapy intensive container is structured so your nervous system doesn’t have time to default back to autopilot.
Clicking the button above will take you to an application form on my website where you can let me know your interest. Once you complete the application, I’ll personally reach out in 1-2 business days with an invitation to book a free 20-minute consult if the intensive seems like the right fit. By the end of your Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive, you’ll understand…
✔ Why your nervous system has been stuck in overdrive and what you can do to coach it back towards safety
✔ How patterns of pushing, bracing, and ignoring your needs can worsen your pain
✔ Real-life shifts you can make to create relief, without overhauling your everyday
✔ How to slow down without crashing, and say “no” without spiraling
✔ How to spot the moments when you’re abandoning yourself and know what to do instead
You won’t be “fixed.”
(Because that was never the point.)
But you will leave with resources, clarity, and tools that help your body respond differently, building momentum that can be hard to accomplish through weekly sessions alone.
Who a Chronic Pain Therapy Intensive is for
This work is likely a strong fit if:
You’ve outgrown symptom management and want support that honors both your body’s signals and your lived experience.
You’re incredibly self-aware, but mindset work isn’t cutting it anymore.
You’ve got the insight, but you feel like something deeper is running the show and you want help to uncover it.
You’re craving high-touch support from someone fluent in pain science, nervous system patterns, and the emotional weight of pushing through.
You’re tired of being in go-mode even when it comes to your healing.
You want a space where you don’t have to explain every detail of your pain just to be taken seriously.
You’re ready to unhook from coping patterns that once kept you functioning but now are keeping you stuck
This may not be the right fit if:
You’re looking for a quick technique to eliminate pain without exploring patterns underneath it.
You prefer a slow, open-ended weekly process without defined time frames.
You want primarily cognitive insight work without nervous system or behavioral practice.
You’re in acute crisis and need stabilization before doing deeper pattern work.
You’re not available for multiple sessions per week during the treatment window.
Meet Your Therapist
Dr. Anahita Kalianivala, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in chronic pain and mind-body treatment.
She completed a fellowship in pain psychology at Stanford School of Medicine and has worked extensively with individuals navigating complex chronic pain conditions.
Her clinical work integrates neuroscience-informed pain treatment, nervous system regulation, and behavioral approaches that help people change long-standing pain patterns.
As a recovering perfectionist, professional overthinker, and deeply-feeling human,
I get where you’re at.
I’ve lived many of the same patterns that can keep chronic pain going: bracing for impact, overriding my wants and needs, powering through the “shoulds.”
For a long time, I looked functional on the outside while my nervous system was vibrating with overwhelm underneath.
Those experiences are part of what led me to this work.
In this intensive, I’ll help you understand the neuroscience behind what you’re feeling, why nervous system tools work for chronic pain, and how to apply them in ways that actually stick.
But real healing doesn’t happen from following a protocol alone. It happens through presence, pattern recognition, and learning how to be in relationship with your whole system.
This intensive is a container to support that process:
structured, steady, and rooted in relational safety.
This therapy intensive is fully virtual.
All sessions are held over secure video so you can access care from wherever you are—even on hard days.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below, explore some common questions about the Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive:
-
Weekly therapy is designed for steady insight over time. This intensive is designed to interrupt patterns that keep pain going.
When we meet multiple times per week, we don’t lose momentum between sessions. We can catch unhelpful patterns as they’re happening. And we can reinforce new responses before your system defaults back.
If weekly therapy feels like circling insight without traction, this format can help you change that rhythm and get momentum.
-
This container is not a cure.
But it is enough time to:
clarify what is actually maintaining your pain
practice new responses repeatedly
feel what nervous system regulation actually means in your body
create momentum instead of restarting every week
This is about creating enough friction to help you catch and change a pattern—and feel confident in what your system needs next to continue the journey.
-
I charge higher fees for this service because intensives require increased clinical focus, energy, and schedule flexibility.
During an intensive, you’re not booking a weekly hour. You’re entering a focused, high-touch container that includes extended onboarding, multiple sessions per week, and between-session support.
Intensives also provide more concentrated value than traditional weekly therapy. The format is designed to create traction, not just insight. The investment reflects the depth, frequency, and proximity of care.
-
Totally. It’s not uncommon for clients to work with me as a specialist while still getting general, supportive therapy services with another provider.
During your consultation, we’ll clarify roles to prevent confusion or overlap that might interrupt your goals.
Usually though, an intensive can easily complement other work, especially if your other therapy focuses on areas outside pain and nervous system conditioning.
Ultimately, my goal is to make sure the work you’re doing is coherent and not in conflict.
-
By the end of a therapy intensive, you leave with:
a clear understanding of your patterns
tools that feel usable in real life
experience regulating under stress, not just talking about it
language for what your system does under pressure
After that, some people return to weekly therapy with me or another provider. Some continue integration on their own or in their community. Some schedule periodic check-ins with me periodically to support their progress.
You won’t have to plan for this alone; the 90-minute closing session is designed to support exactly these questions and plans.
-
I hear that. Managing chronic pain demands a lot out of clients to try different tools and strategies - whether those are seasoned strategies or on the cutting edge.
The pattern I’ve seen with my clients who’ve done lots of treatments already (including therapy):
the other treatments didn’t work because insight happened without enough repetition.
or without recognition of the parts at play (like your emotions, your nervous system, and your deep-seated beliefs).
Repatterning requires proximity and relational safety. It requires practice while your nervous system is activated, not just reflection in the aftermath.
The format of a therapy intensive builds the repetition most people don’t get with other treatments or therapies.
-
The sessions are structured, but the pacing is responsive. The goal is to have a session every 2 or 3 days, while you’re in the intensive.
This is not about cramming healing into your calendar. It’s about reorganizing your system while you’re still living your life.
-
First, you won’t have to decide alone. That’s what the complimentary consult is for.
That said, this intensive is designed for high-functioning people who are ready to look at the patterns around their pain, not just the pain itself.
It’s likely a strong fit if:
You already understand the mind-body connection and want to apply it more effectively.
You’re willing to experiment with changing behaviors, pacing, and internal responses.
You’re ready for focused, structured work over a short period of time.
It may not be the right fit if:
You’re looking for a quick fix or symptom elimination without examining patterns.
You want primarily medical diagnostics or medication management.
You’re in an acute medical crisis that needs stabilization first.
You’re not in a place to commit time, energy, and attention across three weeks.
In the consult, we’ll look at your goals, your capacity, and whether this format supports what you’re trying to change.
