Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive:
3 weeks. 10 sessions.
One nervous system
no longer ruled by the pressure of chronic pain.

This is the therapy you always wished existed — for pain, for pushing through, and for patterns too deeply wired to“just talk about.”

Let me guess…

You still show up to work, to life, to caregiving, to everyone else’s asks — even when your body is begging for a break.

You’ve become really good at hiding how bad it is.

And no one knows how much effort it takes to just make it through basic functions of your day.

You understand the mind-body connection better than most of your providers.

And you’ve had more help from ChatGPT in understanding your symptoms, diagnosis, or treatments than the specialists you get referred to.

You say “yes” to all the recommended treatments.

But nothing actually helps you feel secure and confident that change is lasting—even when there is a benefit.

And when it comes to your own needs?
What you actually want, deep down?
You’ve learned to override, delay or disconnect.

You’re stuck in a loop of:

  • Overdoing it.

  • Crashing and burning.

  • Recovering just enough to start all over again.

This is a survival mode loop.
It’s not a character flaw; it’s just a pattern.
And patterns can change.

Meet the Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive

A 3-week, high-touch therapy experience built for high-functioning humans who are ready to:

  • stop pushing through

Why Choose an Intensive Over Weekly Therapy?

The Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive is a focused, short-term container designed specifically for chronic pain and central sensitization.

It holds what most treatments overlook:

  • The invisible stress loops

  • The constant worry about pain

  • The mental, emotional, and nervous system patterns

…that keep you bracing, over-functioning, or pushing through

chronic pain rehabilitation therapy intensive for pain

Traditional weekly therapy models are designed for insight.

And insight matters.

But chronic pain isn’t just about what you think or what you know. It’s about physiological conditioning and central sensitization. And it’s maintained by a nervous system that has learned to stay on high alert.

When you’re meeting once a week, you often spend:

  • half the session catching up

  • revisiting what happened

  • re-grounding after a flare

  • rebuilding momentum that was lost

Sometimes there is too much time and space for old wiring to take back over—or keeping the new patterns from sinking in.

A therapy intensive changes the rhythm of treatment itself...

In a chronic pain therapy intensive, we meet for longer sessions multiple times a week. The increased frequency, along with structured between-session support, allows us to:

  • interrupt pain-stress patterns in real time

  • reinforce new responses before your system goes back to auto-pilot

  • build safety through repetition

  • create traction while your nervous system is still “warm”

Instead of circling the same insight for months,
we create movement in weeks.
Because this is not just talk therapy

  • This is nervous system retraining.

  • This is behavioral repatterning.

  • This is pain reprocessing grounded in neuroscience and lived experience.

Inside this work, we draw from:

  • Pain neuroscience

  • Parts work

  • Nervous system conditioning

  • Your lived history

  • Your body’s own wisdom

How a Therapy Intensive Works

This isn’t therapy-as-usual.

In weekly therapy, you have space between sessions to reflect. That rhythm works beautifully for many people. But when you’re stuck in a chronic pain pattern, the space between sessions can also allow the same loops to reset and re-solidify.

A therapy intensive compresses the timeline.

Instead of circling the same themes over months, we stay close to the pattern while it’s active. We interrupt it in real time. We practice something new before your system defaults back to autopilot.

This 3-week container is structured so your nervous system doesn’t have time to default back to autopilot.

We stay close to the pattern. We name it. We work with it while it’s active. And we practice new responses often enough that they begin to feel familiar and embodied.

The goal is not just to have you understand what’s happening, but to experience your body responding differently.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Week 0: 2 hour onboarding session

  • Week 1: Pattern recognition (3 sessions)

  • Weeks 2-3: Repatterning practice (6 sessions)

  • Ongoing: Between-session support

Step by Step:

  • first step in the pain repatterning therapy intensive is a free video consultation

Step 1: Book a free 20 minute consultation

    A real conversation where:

    * You get clarity about the structure, expectations, and intensity.

    *
I assess whether this format is clinically appropriate and supportive for you right now.

  • the second step in a pain repatterning therapy intensive is a 120 minute intake

Step 2: Two hour onboarding session

We take a dive into: your pain history, your patterns, and your nervous system landscape.

That way, when the work begins, we have a precise and clear understanding of your barriers, your goals, and what to interrupt.

  • final step of a pain repatterning intensive is immersive sessions across 3 weeks to support your growth and nervous system wellbeing

Step 3: Three Weeks of Repatterning

We meet consistently to interrupt patterns in real time, practice new responses, and build momentum before your system resets.

Between-session support is included throughout the three weeks.

What Each Week of the Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive Focuses On

Before We Begin: 120-Minute Onboarding Session

Every chronic pain therapy intensive begins with a comprehensive 120-minute onboarding session.

This is where we map your pain story, your nervous system patterns, and the emotional or cognitive loops that may be reinforcing your chronic pain.

You won’t just tell me what hurts….

We’ll identify:

  • what you’ve tried (and why it may or may not have worked)

  • the belief systems and protective patterns wired into your system

  • the stress responses keeping your pain in motion

  • what you genuinely want your life to feel like

You leave this session with clarity, direction, and a shared roadmap for the next three weeks.

Week 1: Pattern Recognition + Pain Science Integration

In Week 1, we focus on identifying what’s maintaining your chronic pain pattern. We’ll meet for 3 sessions, 60-90 minutes each, in which I’ll help you:

  • Recognize over-functioning, perfectionism, emotional suppression, or people-pleasing patterns

  • Identify anxiety loops or stress responses amplifying pain signals

  • Understand how your nervous system has learned to stay in protection mode

  • Integrate pain neuroscience education in a way that lands — not just intellectually, but experientially

By the end of Week 1, you will understand what’s fueling your pain-stress loop and what needs to shift.

Weeks 2–3: Repatterning Chronic Pain Responses in Real Time

In weeks 2 and 3, we’ll focus on nervous system retraining and behavioral repatterning. You’ll have three sessions per week (30–60 minutes, adjusted to your needs) to practice new responses close together, so your nervous system has the repetition and proximity it needs to rewire.

This is where we interrupt the loop by:

  • Practicing concrete nervous system regulation tools

  • Learning pacing and boundary skills that reduce flare-ups

  • Spotting your “push through” reflex in real time

  • Replacing stress-driven responses with sustainable ones

  • Working with parts of you that panic, overperform, or brace against rest

  • Using somatic techniques to notice what your body does under pressure and teach it new, sustainable responses

This isn’t just insight candy for your mind. It’s felt safety for your body. Through repetition, relationship, and recalibration, we begin to shift the pathways that keep you bracing, so your responses come from choice instead of survival.

By the end of the intensive, you won’t just relate to your pain differently; you’ll know how to respond to it without spiraling, bracing, or losing yourself.

Why a chronic pain therapy intensive works

If you’ve tried therapy, coaching, physical treatments, or mindset work before — and pain still feels like it’s running (and ruining) your life — you’re not alone.

You’re thoughtful. Insightful. Capable. You’ve handled complex stressors before. Solved countless problems and helped other people manage theirs.

So it’s confusing and frustrating that this one thing won’t shift.

You’re tired of circling the same insight without real traction. You want change that actually lands. Not just cognitively, but physiologically.

You don’t need more willpower. What you need is a different kind of support. One that works with your nervous system.

And that’s because recovering from chronic pain isn’t about working harder or throwing more effort at the wall. (Psst. That actually just revs up your stress response even more.)

Healing from chronic pain happens when we work with the part that’s been trying to protect you all along.

The Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive is specialized, focused care for people who’ve already done all the right things and are still stuck in the loop.

This is therapy for your whole system:

  • your nervous system conditioning

  • your coping strategies

  • your beliefs

  • your emotional reflexes

  • the protective patterns wired into your body.

In this work, you’ll unlearn survival responses that once made sense but now keep the alarm going. You’ll learn how to stop overriding your limits. You’ll interrupt the performance pressures running quietly in the background of your life.

And you’ll begin relating to pain differently — not as a monster to defeat, but as a signal your system learned to amplify.

By the end of our 3-week therapy intensive you’ll know…

✔ Why your nervous system has been stuck in overdrive and what you can do to coach it back

✔ How pain is being fueled by patterns of pushing, bracing, and ignoring your needs

✔ The real-life, doable shifts you can make without overhauling your whole life but while also creating sustainable, lasting relief

✔ Skills to slow down without crashing, and say “no” without spiraling

✔ How to spot the moments when you’re abandoning yourself and know what to do instead

You won’t be “fixed.” (Because that was never the point.)
But you will be profoundly resourced in a way that weekly therapy can’t match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before you decide, explore some common questions about the Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive:

  • Weekly therapy is designed for steady insight over time. This intensive is designed to interrupt patterns that keep pain going.

When we meet multiple times per week, we don’t lose momentum between sessions. We can catch unhelpful patterns as they’re happening. And we can reinforce new responses before your system defaults back.

If weekly therapy feels like circling insight without traction, this format can help you change that rhythm and get momentum.

  • Three weeks is not a cure.

But it is enough time to:

    • clarify what is actually maintaining your pain

    • practice new responses repeatedly

    • feel what nervous system regulation actually means in your body

    • create momentum instead of restarting every Monday

This is about creating enough friction to help you catch and change a pattern—and feel confident in what your system needs next to continue the journey.

  • Curently, the investment for a 3-week high-touch therapy intensive is $3,000.

And you might be wondering why it’s that much of an investment. I charge higher fees because intensives require increased clinical focus, energy, and schedule flexibility to offer responsibly.

You’re not booking a weekly hour.
You’re entering a structured, high-touch container that includes extended onboarding, multiple sessions per week, and between-session support.

Intensives also provide more concentrated value than traditional weekly therapy. The format is designed to create traction, not just insight. The investment reflects the depth, frequency, and proximity of care.

  • Totally. It’s not uncommon for clients to work with me as a specialist while still getting general, supportive therapy services with another provider.

During your consultation, we’ll clarify roles to prevent confusion or overlap that might interrupt your goals.

Usually though, an intensive can easily complement other work, especially if your other therapy focuses on areas outside pain and nervous system conditioning.

My goal is to make sure the work you’re doing is coherent and not in conflict.

  • My goal is to work myself out of a job, not make you dependent on my support.

By the end of a therapy intensive, you leave with:

    • a clear understanding of your patterns

    • tools that feel usable in real life

    • experience regulating under stress, not just talking about it

    • language for what your system does under pressure

After that, some people return to weekly therapy. Some continue integration on their own or in their community. Some schedule check-ins with me periodically to support their progress.

  • I hear that. The art of chronic pain demands a lot out of clients to try different tools and strategies - whether seasoned or on the cutting edge.

The pattern I’ve seen with my clients who say the same: the other treatments didn’t work usually because insight happened without enough repetition. Or without recognition of the parts at play (like your emotions, your nervous system, and your deep-seated beliefs).

Repatterning requires proximity and relational safety. It requires practice while your nervous system is activated, not only reflection afterward.

The format of a therapy intensive builds the repetition most people never actually get.

  • The sessions are structured, but the pacing is responsive. The goal is to meet every 2 or 3 days for a session, while you’re in the intensive.

In the first week, you may notice more demand on your time and energy, as the sessions can be up to 90 minutes each.

Weeks 2 and 3 include shorter sessions because integration matters as much as intensity.

This is not about cramming healing into your calendar. It’s about reorganizing your system while you’re still living your life.

  • First, you won’t have to decide alone. That’s what the complimentary consult is for.

That said, this intensive is designed for high-functioning people who are ready to look at the patterns around their pain, not just the pain itself.

It’s likely a strong fit if:

    • You already understand the mind-body connection and want to apply it more effectively.

    • You’re willing to experiment with changing behaviors, pacing, and internal responses.

    • You’re ready for focused, structured work over a short period of time.

It may not be the right fit if:

    • You’re looking for a quick fix or symptom elimination without examining patterns.

    • You want primarily medical diagnostics or medication management.

    • You’re in an acute medical crisis that needs stabilization first.

    • You’re not in a place to commit time, energy, and attention across three weeks.

In the consult, we’ll look at your goals, your capacity, and whether this format supports what you’re trying to change.

Who This Chronic Pain Therapy Intensive Is For

This work is likely a strong fit if:

  • You’ve outgrown symptom management and want support that honors both your body’s signals and your lived experience.

  • You’re incredibly self-aware, but mindset work isn’t cutting it anymore.

  • You’ve got the insight, but you feel like something deeper is running the show and you want help to uncover it.

  • You’re craving high-touch support from someone who understands pain science, nervous system patterns, and the emotional weight of pushing through.

  • You’re tired of being in go-mode even when it comes to your healing.

  • You want a space where you don’t have to explain every detail of your pain just to be taken seriously.

  • You’re ready to unhook from coping patterns that once kept you functioning but now are keeping you stuck

How A Therapy Intensive Interrupts the Pain Pattern

Chronic pain is a learned danger response. When the brain and nervous system stay in protection mode long after an injury has healed (or even without a clear injury), then pain becomes a conditioned loop.

In this intensive, we don’t just “manage” that loop. We work directly with the conditioning that maintains it.

That includes:

  • identifying the stress responses reinforcing central sensitization

  • retraining fight-or-flight activation in real time

  • addressing the psychological and behavioral patterns that keep the alarm ringing

We tailor it to your lived experience.

There’s no one-size-fits-all here. We start with your history, patterns, and context. And we build from there. Every session and intervention meets you exactly where you are. This isn’t about a protocol; it’s about the real-life context in which your pain developed, intensified, or got stuck. That means we’ll slow down when needed, zoom in where it matters, and co-create a path that honors your capacity, not overrides it.

We hold the emotional weight, too.

This intensive doesn’t separate the physical from the emotional. Because the truth is, they’re not separate. Here, we make space for everything pain touches: the grief of what it’s disrupted, the resentment of trying “all the right things” and still hurting, the anger for how bad it got, and the shame of still not being healed. This is not about staying in the story forever. It’s about finally being able to tell the whole truth.

You’ve tried working harder. You’ve tried thinking positively. What you need now is to try things differently — in a place that helps you move out of survival mode and into something more sustainable.

That’s what the Pain Repatterning Therapy Intensive offers.

Meet Your Therapist:
Dr. Anahita Kalianivala, PhD,
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

As a recovering perfectionist, professional overthinker, and deeply-feeling human, I get where you’re at.

I’ve lived many of the same patterns that can keep chronic pain going: bracing for impact, overriding my wants and needs, powering through the “shoulds.”

In this intensive, I’ll break down the neuroscience behind what you’re feeling, explain why nervous system tools work for chronic pain, and help you apply them in ways that actually stick.

I’m here to hold space for the real, raw, human stuff. The messy, the meaningful, and the totally rewritable.

Because if your brain and body can get wired into survival mode, they can also learn a way out of it. And I’m here to help you do just that.

Yes, I’m a clinical psychologist.

But I’m also someone who believes real healing doesn’t happen from following a protocol by itself. Healing happens through presence, pattern recognition, and learning how to be in relationship with your whole system.

If you're curious, I draw from:

  • CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy)

  • ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy)

  • IFS (internal family systems, or parts work)

  • PRT (pain reprocessing therapy)

  • Nervous system education

  • Biofeedback

  • Clinical hypnosis

  • Somatic integration

They’re all here, in the room with us — not as formulas, but as fluent tools I use based on what you need.

But also, I’ve lived this work, too.

I know what it’s like to override, to keep pushing, to collapse later. To look functional on the outside while my system was fried underneath.

I know what it’s like for the body to say “please stop; no more” — with a voice barking in the background saying, “you better keep going.”

And I know what it takes to build safety from the inside out—sustainably and with support.

This intensive was built to help you get back to thriving faster. To offer the kind of care I once needed, too: structured, steady, and rooted in the nervous system.

If you have questions first, I’m happy to help:

Either way, I’ve got you.
