Our values
Grounded, Compassionate, and Effective Care for Chronic Pain
Our Core Values at Alcove Mental Health
At Alcove, our services are built around our core values. These are the guiding principles that shape everything we do—ensuring you feel respected, supported, and heard. Our approach is not just about treating chronic pain but about creating an environment where healing is encouraged and nurtured.
-
Everyone deserves care that meets them where they are, without barriers. I honor each individual’s lived experiences and complex identities while pushing back against systemic barriers that stand in the way of getting help.
-
You’re the expert on your body and healing—I’m just here to support the process. Too many people with chronic pain are told what they should feel or do by doctors, family, or society. In therapy, we do the opposite. I trust you to know your body, and together, we’ll find strategies that actually work for you. My goal is to help you feel empowered in your choices, not to hand you a cookie-cutter treatment plan.
-
Your story, experiences, and emotions matter. Pain isn’t just physical—it impacts your relationships, your sense of self, and your daily life. I take the time to truly understand who you are and what you’re going through because connection is the foundation of meaningful healing. In therapy, you won’t just be another appointment on my calendar—you’ll be heard, validated, and met with genuine care.
-
You’re not just a collection of symptoms. By addressing your mind, body, and spirit, we can get to the root of what you need to manage pain and care for yourself in meaningful and impactful ways. If you would like to incorporate aspects of spirituality into sessions or want to make sure we steer clear of that, please let me know.
-
Chronic pain is serious, but that doesn’t mean therapy has to feel like a sterile doctor’s visit. Sometimes, humor can help shift the weight of it all—because healing shouldn’t be all stress and no laughter. If you’re into dry wit, bad puns, or existential humor, you’re in good hands. And if not, don’t worry—I’ll try to keep my jokes at a tolerable level.
Access Includes Affordability
At Alcove, accessibility includes more than being welcoming—it also means doing what I can to make care financially reachable. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots, participate in the Open Path Collective, and support the use of out-of-network insurance benefits when it helps make therapy sustainable.
I trust people to know their own needs. You don’t need to justify your circumstances—just reach out.
Care Rooted in Justice, Not Neutrality
Your identities—cultural, racial, gendered, spiritual, neurodivergent, or otherwise—are not something to be “worked around” in therapy. They’re essential to how you move through the world, and they deserve to be named, honored, and affirmed.
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
This practice is an explicitly LGBTQIA+ affirming, anti-racist, and trauma-informed space. I welcome neurodivergent individuals, people in larger bodies, immigrants, chronically ill and disabled people, people of color, and anyone whose identities have been overlooked or pathologized in other care settings.

DISCLAIMER: Not all viewpoints are welcome here.
I do not provide services aligned with bigotry, body shaming, white supremacy, transphobia, or other forms of systemic harm. I also do not support belief systems—spiritual, cultural, or political—that actively suppress the autonomy, safety, or dignity of others. Inclusion means taking a clear stance—because neutrality in the face of oppression is not safety.
This is a space where you don’t need to translate yourself, justify your reality, or hide important parts of who you are. I work actively to unlearn biases and stay accountable, because inclusion isn’t just a checkbox—it’s a practice.
Ways to work with me
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to chronic pain management, so I offer a few different ways to work together:
Empowered Relief (2-hour Pain Management Class)
Weekly CBT for Chronic Pain Group (coming soon!)
Note: all services are delivered via online video telehealth.
